My language learning plans

Today, I just wanted to share my current language-learning plans.

I have the chance to take a few months with little or no work, and therefore focus on my personal growth.
I’ve decided to dedicate the next 2-3 months to language learning, with fluency in Italian as my top priority.

For the record, if you haven’t read my blog yet, I am a native French speaker, speak English at a C1 level, and am currently learning Russian (B1+) and Italian (A2+).

I love learning languages, but over the years, the accumulation of work to reach a decent level in Russian and now Italian feels quite overwhelming. This is why accelerating this process seemed like a good deal.

I live in Italy at the moment, and I know I could reach a decent level (B2) in 2 to 3 months if I really immerse myself in the language. On the other hand, I’ve reached a decent level in Russian, but I’ve admitted it will take me at least 3 to 4 years to reach fluency; moreover, this language is less of a priority right now.

Here’s my plan for these next 2-3 months :

  • Italian is the #1 priority; I spend at least 4 hours a day on it. To reach my goal, I have 3 hours of private lessons and 4 hours of group lessons a week, and I’ve also bought a LingQ subscription to absorb as much content as I can. I have also bought a few books that I plan to read and reread. My goal is to reach a professional level (B2).
  • maintain my Russian with routine tasks, 2 private lessons a week, and a weekly call with a Russian-speaking friend.
  • improve my written English by contributing more to this blog. My process is simple: I write an article on my own, then use Grammarly to correct my sentences, and finally create flashcards in Anki for each mistake.
